Each year the Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois creates or participates in various special events and activities. These special events and activities allow the Foundation to provide unique opportunities for kids and Site Coordinators. They also help the Foundation create and maintain relationships with allied associations and create awareness of our programs and Foundation. Finally, special events and activities provide a way for volunteers and Site Coordinators to be identified or give back to the Foundation.
Other Side Of The Green (for males) and Thinking Outside The Tee Box (for females) are annual events that pair a junior golfer, age 11-17, with a Business Professional in the career they are interested in for a nine-hole scramble and mentoring activity at Rich Harvest Farms. During the event, participants talk to the Business Professionals about their experience and learn valuable life skills. The event was created to show boys and girls how to use the sport of golf as a vehicle to enhance their future careers.
"I will never forget playing on such a beautiful course. What a worthwhile contribution the Foundation is making to our youth and future leaders of this country - building character, responsibility, self-esteem, and self-confidence through playing a game they enjoy."
~ Marva, Thinking Outside The Tee Box Business Professional

In honor of the late Don Springer, the Kids Golf Foundation has developed a unique version of The Solheim Cup for our sites to participate in. This event is an educational weekend intended to help sites understand what the tour professionals experience during their tournament. This annual event consists of three days of activities in which teams will participate in several new formats of play, team-building activities, an educational field trip and more. The Springer Cup, like The Solheim Cup, is based on sites qualifying to participate by accumulating points over a calendar year.
In 1999 Hook A Kid On Golf started the Traditions of Golf Challenge to allow participants in the program the opportunity to gather and compete against each other in a fun three-day event. The Traditions of Golf Challenge is an annual event that combines playing scores with rules, etiquette, and history. Each team’s score is combined with their “Traditions of Golf†score to determine the overall champion of the two-day tournament. Knowing what to do after a ball has splashed into a lateral water hazard and how to properly repair a ball mark are just as important as sinking birdie putts.
